Assessment of Farmers' Attitudes Toward Pest Control Services Provided by Birds

Sustainable, conservation-oriented agricultural practices like pest regulation by insectivorous birds can decrease agrochemical use and enhance efforts on maximizing biodiversity. Previous research has shown that attracting insect-eating bird species improve control in fruit crops have a positive impact yield. We conducted survey among farmers to analyze the determinants of potential adoption biological (BPC) provided their farms. Quantitative analysis showed willingness implement innovative practice, favoring farmland wildlife, is influenced both economic noneconomic factors. Farmers’ overall interest farms was related variety factors, including understanding beneficial role biodiversity, desire reduce production costs, personal characteristics. These factors influencing farmers’ motivations for participation should be taken into account clarify barriers prevent, incentives might draw them an eco-friendly approach insect control.
